Yu-nagi was run by my mother, Hanayo, for nearly 50 years. As she (and the building!) reached retirement age, there was an unspoken feeling that it might be time to close the business.

 

That's when I found myself saying, "I'll keep it going!" 

 

And so, after extensive renovations, we reopened in October 2019 as Guesthouse Yu-nagi. ​I’ve been helping out here since I was old enough to remember, and it  always felt like a natural part of my life.​ While preserving the best of what we’ve inherited from the past, I hope to thoughtfully embrace new ideas and modern touches along the way. Taking things at a gentle pace, my intention is to continue running this place in a small, steady, and lasting way.
